This 2020 residence in Gangarampur was the first project Atish Dipankar took on as an independent designer, and it marks where ADS Creative Space began.
The brief covered selected rooms of a 3,200 sq.ft. home: the living and dining areas and the bedrooms. Instead of a solid wall, a slatted white display partition separates the living and dining spaces while keeping them visually connected. Textured feature walls and lit display niches give each room a focal point.
In the bedrooms, built-in storage was treated as a design element: a full wall of staggered, individually lit niches, full-height two-tone wardrobes and panelled or wallpapered bed walls. Many of the ideas that recur in the studio's later work, such as integrated storage, layered lighting and a single strong feature wall per room, first appear here.
